Inception

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

July 22, 2010

INCEPTION

If I were write a review, within a review, within a review - carefully crafting it the right way and thinking about it in levels to the extent where I was able to make you believe it was one single review, all the while making you believe you were reading it - even though you really weren’t - how would you feel? If you are completely confused - good.

When you watch Inception, it is very easy to get confused unless you pay attention; believe me, it’s all there. But, if you don’t want to think, if you don’t want to be intellectually challenged - then don’t watch this movie. I heard plenty of people complain that it was too deep of a movie and it made their head hurt. I, in the other had felt very pleased that someone took the time to write a story that was both entertaining and creative. Bravo! From Director/Writer Christopher Nolan to the cast, (Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy and Ken Watanabe to name a few) this film is a masterpiece of story, personality, visuals and inspiration.

Fans of great cinema need not miss the experience - I whole-heartedly give it a MUST SEE! Just on a side note: I give applause to the patron that stated at the opening, when DiCaprio lay on the beach with the waves hitting him, “Oh look, Jack (DeCaprio’s character from Titanic) finally washed up!” What a great way to start an evening. - CLAM

Inception is the fine art of controlling people’s dreams. Allowing an idea to be planted in the depths of their subconscious, that will take root in the waking world.

This is without a doubt the most original and entertaining of this summer’s blockbusters. The special effects and CGI sequences are as perfectly seamless as they are breathtaking. However, this film sets itself apart by relying more on its thought invoking storyline and the actors’ abilities.

First, Leonardo DiCaprio in his first adult performance was found commendable by this reviewer. Then, Ellen Page proves there’s far more to her acting abilities than Juno. This is moviemaking at its finest and should not be missed- its run time is 3 hours so pee before viewing or be lost in the levels of the dream. - CHAINSAW

THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE

Make no mistake- this is neither a remake nor an extended version of Mickey Mouse’s stint as the Sorcerers apprentice from Fantasia. Disney is either pulling out all the stops or running out of ideas.

An immortal medieval sorcerer must track down and train Merlin’s prime descendant in time to save the world from destruction. Placing Nicholas Cage in the role or the Sorcerer was an excellent decision; choosing the nasal speaking, super geek Jay Baruchel to play the apprentice…not so much. Bad casting aside and despite its over-predictability, the film does make for good clean fun family entertainment. - CHAINSAW
