Newton, NC -Some losses are felt in a way that words cannot express. When we experience the loss of someone very dear, it is often helpful to express that sadness through creative expression. Colors, words, textures, and shapes can help us share our feelings without saying a word.

Art for the Heart, a free art workshop for bereaved spouses and children, will be offered in September at Carolina Caring in Newton. Local artist Sigrid Hice will guide participants through the process of creating their own artist book, which will be ready to take home that day. The books are suitable for enjoying as a beautiful and unique work of art, or they may be used as a loving tribute to an individual or family. Sigrid’s expertise, as well as all art materials used, are free of cost to registered participants.

The Art for the Heart workshop is open to the community; however, space is limited. The children’s workshop (ages 5-18) will meet on September 25th from 4:00-5:30 pm. The workshop for bereaved spouses will be held on September 26th from 2:00-3:00. Prior registration is required.
